Golf Center 9-Hole Course
Designed by Rick Jacobson, the Golf Center 9-Hole Course can test your game. Playable in just 90 minutes, it features gently rolling hills, prairie grass, and a sparkling lake. Golf Center serves as the only fully lighted nine-hole course in Chicagoland, and it’s open year-round.
Either schedule a tee time for the course or take advantage of the on-site driving range. It offers grass tee stalls and costs seven dollars for 45 balls.
Lake Opeka and the Lake Park Marina
A popular destination for over 50 years, Lake Opeka offers boating and fishing fun. Anglers can cast a line daily from sunrise to sunset. Boating is weather dependent, and both kayaks and paddle boats are available for rental at the marina. Those on the water will cruise past the golf course, fishing pier, and sand volleyball courts.
Newly renovated, Apache Park is one of the most innovative parks in the city. It includes a soccer field, a walking/jogging path, and outdoor exercise equipment. Visitors will also see beautifully decorated peace poles created by local citizens.
If you want to plant something special this summer, garden plots are available to rent. They’re just east of Westgate Road and are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis. Gardeners can plant sunflowers, pumpkins, peppers, and so much more. Register at the Leisure Center and don’t forget to show proof of residency to receive the resident rate.
